About Mike Shaw

This website is called Mike Shaw Today because tomorrow I'll be a different person (and so will you).

Although I've studied Zen and the great religions, read inspirational and self-help books, have meditated and done yoga, none of these provides one single key to life, but they all point to The Way.

It's all about self discovery. The work lies in learning to be honest with yourself so you can see some of the roadblocks holding you back. We tend to avoid that because we're afraid of losing the self which we've worked so hard to create.

You have to lose "the self" to be yourself.

...which is why the awakening process is confusing. You see, what we seek for fulfillment externally, we already have, always have had, and always will have.

I invite you to share in the journey of finding out for yourself who you are, discovering inner peace--not in the future, but right now.

For me, I play flute, I write, sell my photography, and practice archery.

See you on the road! Now here's a fun video I made answering some people's questions.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. When life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means it's going to launch you into something great. So just focus, and keep aiming.

The stars we are given. The constellations,
we make.

His breath, his muscles, his fingers produce the sound, without intervening technical complications. Nothing separates him from the tone, no mechanism, no reed, no hammer, no bow, nor string... You just put your lips to the flute and blow. Hopefully the result is music.
